Teaching values follow the 2021 International Residential Code (IRC) and standard hydraulics: 0.433 psi per foot of rise, Hazen-Williams friction (C = 140), and fitting losses as equivalent pipe length. The Boiler lab uses 140,000 BTU per gallon of #2 oil at 85% efficiency, baseboard rated 550 BTU/h per foot at 180°F, and a wet-rotor circulator curve.
